Birduitars.

Somewhere in the Gamiverse something similar has been posted before, but this is the best of the birduitar videos I've come across.

Awesome that they crap on everything, too.

NYC Streets as Percussion Instrument.

Here is a great little video of David Van Tieghem playing the streets like a drum! I've been known to knock a lightpost or two in my day so I really enjoyed this video. The weirdest part though? That the streets are so empty.

Update: Apparently there's a sequel:

Agonizingly Slow Destruction of a Kitchen

Came across this great video of an art installation that consists of a slowly rotating kitchen & the ensuing destruction:

Yes. It is great & amazing & genius, etc. But someone had the presence of mind to do this:

& yet another internet genius sped it up:

The possibilities are endless....

Mysterious Found Imagery

This may be a break from the "found on the inter-web" part of this blog's tag line, but I found the following images today on the original Internet--The Sidewalk. The four images were arranged in a pamphlet, 2 on each side folded in half like a book. I can't come up with any explanations for these, so please leave comments.

44 Pianos, The Big Earth Chord, and Euphony/Cacophony

Jonathan Crayford is a composer/pianist/multi-instrumentalist. His aptly named project, 44 Pianos, consisted of recording 44 pianos.

Take a listen to the Big Earth Chord, which is in E flat, which is the note at which the Earth spins (unproven).

Random Bouncy Process Music Generator

Stumbled upon this thing, the Grotrian Pianolina, a while back.

Throw the little cubes around to make notes, or select one of the programmed phrases and watch & listen as it degrades.

Get Your Avant-Garde Art Fix

Found browsing around Ubu:

A great interview with improvised music legend Derek Bailey. He talks about he how came to improvised music and why. Good stuff.

Charlemagne Palestine's Island Song video. He drives around an island on a motorcycle with a camera strapped to himself singing and harmonizing with the engine. Charlemagne Palestine is an intriguing guy. Dig him.

Jon Rose Bows Fences in the Middle of Nowhere while Wearing a Bee Helmet

Jon Rose is a violinist and artist. He plays fences. Yes, fences. And it is awesome. At times sounding like trumpets, or the wind, a whole orchestra, or one angry cat, playing fences is awesome.

Great Fences of Australia video.

The Telemegaphone!

This awesome art installation is a giant megaphone perched on a mountain in Norway. When it's up and running you can call it with a cell phone and boom your voice for miles. I can't wait!

Patafilms

I just discovered these "patafilms" on the Archive. I'm not sure what is really going on yet. There are lots of these little films and an accompanying blog. Hopefully more viewings and reading will lead to enlightenment...or something. Enjoy!

Color Illusions

I stumbled onto this site with a fine example of the color illusion (not sure if that's the proper name). That led to the Spanish Castle picture, which led to this list of other pictures with the same illusion. Stare at the dot or one spot on the weirdo color pic, then mouse over the image to revert to black & white, but the photo will look like it's in color until you move your eyes! Very strange experience.

Also crazy, the Spinning Dancer.

Let Them Sing It For You

Let Them Sing It For You is cool little flash program that plays back the words you type into it as vocal samples from its huge library of pop songs.
